Dacia’s Morocco really stamping out the Duster

Now, unless you’re a budget strapped European, a Romanian or a fan of Top Gear (which amounts to the same thing) you’ve probably never heard of Dacia.
2011 Dacia Duster
That’s your fault, and given the plans Renault have for their low cost brand, perhaps you should reconsider.

In a recent announcement from the French, the Romanian’s brand Moroccan factory will build 350.000 units of their Duster this year.
The small SUV is already quite a capable seller and it seems like Renault is anticipating the sales to keep trickling in to the point where there’s a flood happening.
2011 Dacia Duster
This is because Renault wants the Duster to really hit well in the fast emerging markets such as Brazil and Russia.
Volkswagen already revealed the 2012 Tiguan ahead of schedule in order to keep up with demand from these countries.
Trouble is, while the Dacia Duster and the Volkswagen Tiguan aren’t very different in terms of size, the rest of the story is different.
VW will charge you 24.000 euros for a base 1.2 liter engined Tiguan with two wheel drive whereas Dacia will happily put you in a full spec, four wheel drive Duster with a 1.6 petrol or 1.5 diesel engine for less than 19.000 euros.

The Dacia Duster is not exactly a laughing matter any more is it now?

Renault Captur concept is French for “Nissan Juke” Review

http://dailycar.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/24381hdf93ced5d.jpgThe lines between vehicle segments and bodystyles are getting more blurred all the time. And it isn’t just the Germans with their “four-door coupes” and “sports activitiy vehicles,” either. Nissan has proven just as capable of blurring the line between SUV and hatchback with their crossovers – vehicles like the Rogue andJuke. And now the Japanese automaker’s sister company, Renault, appears to be following down the same path with its new Captur concept.

The Captur follows last year’s DeZir show car in showing the way forward for the French automaker’s design language, capturing, as it were, the spirit that future Renaults will be taking. Of course this being a French concept car, it encompasses certain elements that won’t ever see production. Things like the fantastical interior, to start with, and those 22-inch wheels whose white spokes seem to blend right into the tires. But if you want an overall picture of where Renault is heading, this is where it’s at.
Powered by Renault’s Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine giving 160 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, the Captur also incorporates dual-clutch gearbox.

Although Renault doesn’t say so specifically in the press release after the jump, where you can scope out all the details, we’re assuming we’ll see the Captur on the show stand at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, from which we’ll be sure to bring you our up-close-and-personal impressions and images. In the meantime, you can scope it out in the high-res image gallery below.

Review 2010 Renault DeZir Concept

The French car maker Renault has withdrawn from the U.S. market in 1987, leaving behind rotting stuff Hulks as a union and a car. But there is another way of looking at the brand, Renault has long been regarded for its sophisticated, and his willingness to take risks and experiment. In fact, some of the cars created by former Renault chief designer Patrick le Quément are timeless classics, and has also churned out some damn hot hatches are based on many diminutive Clio. Renault is what inspires us, and this concept is the focus DeZir.

DeZir (pronounced “wish”) wrote the first concept is the successor to the Quément, former head of Mazda Design by Laurens van den Acker. Capital Z is the trade name of a car spinning its finest, it means “zero emissions” as DeZir is fully electronic. There is an electric motor which is mounted behind the cab and makes 148 hp and 167 Nm of torque. This is enough to take this concept a bit enthusiasm, in theory, of course, because the low 1830-pound weight, which is achieved using a tubular chassis and bodywork kevlar.

Renault said that it said could run 0-62 mph in five seconds. Its theoretical maximum speed is governed to 112 mph unimpressive, however, and its range is only 99 miles. The lithium ion battery can be charged via a conventional plug or exchanged quickly, the latter means that the station is called rapid drop in battery that can automate the process.

DeZir shows a variety of ideas of intelligent design. The front-end suggestions of a possible new face of business and horizontal bars, and has a highly visible (and lit), the Renault diamond badge. Scissor doors are hinged at the front of the driver and passenger side hinged rear doors Renault waxes philosophical about the yin and yang-style “love of harmony,” even if this sounds like a pretentious two mentalities us. Tail lights grow horizontally out of a bright red frame and fantastic.

The interior, inspired by the idea of a “love affair” is very innovative, with smooth, flowing curves, pulse lights, one piece, love, meets easy-seat having notches to keep occupants move once they are spent and on the road. (Of course, the location of the floating center console could put a brake on the action.) The lining is red and white asymmetric. There is no rear window, but two cameras again doing everything possible to inform the driver in their environment. It is very sleek and elegant compared to ordinary cars booths.
