New 2011 Land Rover Range e Concept Car Overview

Land Rover Range e Concept is based on the Range Rover Sport and 245PS diesel engine uses the current 3.0-liter TDV6, in collaboration with ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a 69kW electric motor. The use of a parallel hybrid system with a 14.2kW / h lithium ion can be recharged from an external power source 240V, Land Rover Range e can be driven on electric power alone for more than 20 miles with zero emissions of harmful exhaust gases.



Overall CO2 emissions are just 89 g / km, but Land Rover Range e Concept has a maximum power of 339PS system and a top speed of 120 mph, offering fuel economy of 85mpg. Improved fuel efficiency from the hybrid system makes 690 miles possible on a full tank of fuel.
The Land Rover Range e Concept is one of a series of projects supported by the UK Government’s Technology Strategy Board and five prototypes are currently engaged in a test program with other members of the Land Rover CABLED – Coventry and Birmingham demonstrators low emissions – a consortium. Land Rover hopes its plug-in hybrid will be on the market in the near future, following on from the debut of its first standard diesel-electric hybrid models from 2013.

The Range Rover is a true luxury product, a tuning job or customization one for it can’t simply be the replacement of a few parts.

A Range Rover customization has to stand out, it has to be unique in one form or another. This is what the British at Project Kahn understood and few other tuning firms managed.

In following this philosophy, after giving us several Range Rover customization packs they came up with another one.

In being properly anal about analyzing Project Kahn’s lineup so far I’d say that they are unique in their component lineup but they are similar in their outer look.
The latest creation to join the ranks of Kahn Range Rover lineup is much of the same and yet it’s very different.
For a kick off it’s based on the Range Rover Vogue 4.4 Diesel RS450 so it could find market targets in people who are more sensible than others and may want to stand out as a result of that.

Thankfully, the changes of the Range Rover diesel are discrete, the bumpers and sideskirts being a mixture of the tidiest pieces we’ve seen in the Kahn lineup until now.
Sensible or not, the Range Rover RS450 does have a bit of a stanced look thanks to a new radiator grille that’s painted black and the 22 inch Kahn RSX multi-spoke alloys don’t ruin the look either.

Land Rover says Range Rover branding is “in flux right now” Details

The Range Rover Evoque will be priced somewhere around $45,000. That would be about $8,500 more expensive than a Land Rover LR2 and about $3,500 less expensive than an LR4. But the Evoque’s full name is technically the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and it wears a Land Rover badge on its rear valance – whereas brands like Toyota, Honda and Nissan don’t put their badges on their respective luxury lines. With this initial overlap in price, and Range Rover possibly going even lower with a sub-Evoque Mini rival, we asked Land Rover if it was working to get any more separation with its Range Rover brand.
“Dealers will add Range Rover branding to their towers,” said Skip Pavlik, Land Rover product manager, referring to the signage outside dealerships that will indicate three brands now - Jaguar, Land Rover andRange Rover, instead of just Jaguar and Land Rover. Pavlick also said that “the issue is in flux right now.”
 

“Land Rover is more utilitarian, Range Rover is the top end of luxury,” said Wayne Kung, Jaguar-Land Rover’s manager of national product communications. “You don’t lose any capability with the Range Rover, but the Evoque especially is about unabashed on-road and urban driving.”
It was Pavlik who pointed out that “the Evoque started off as a Land Rover concept, the LRX, and it still has a Land Rover badge.” When we asked if that badge would be there in three years, neither Pavlik nor Kung could say. The price issue, however – Range Rovers that are inexpensive, by comparison, to Land Rovers – isn’t seen as posing any problems for the Land Rover line. “Price is secondary,” said Pavlik. Added Kung, “They’re different customers.”
