GM to launch special edition Camaro Review

http://dailycar.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/11-2012-chevrolet-camaro-zl1.jpg
You think there were a lot of special editions of the Bugatti Veyron? The Europeans ain’t got nothin’ on muscle cars when it comes to low-volume derivatives. And for its part, Chevrolet doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Just the opposite, in fact… at least, that is, according to the latest reports.
Word has it that Chevy is planning on rolling out a new special edition Camaro every six months for – hold on while we take out our trusty old Autoblog abacus – two each year! The new ZL1 that debuted in Chicago is said to be the first in a long line that is expected to be followed by a new Transformers edition for the upcoming sequel Dark of the Moon. After that we should see run of 500 replicas of the Camaro SS Convertible that’s set to pace the Indianapolis 500, and then a limited-edition Camaro Synergy that’ll offer buyers a V6 with all the performance bits you’d expect from the V8.

If the reports prove accurate, that ought to take us through the end of next year. Beyond that, Chevrolet reportedly plans on tapping in to other historic Camaro variants for future specials. Have a thought or two on the subject? Tell us what special Camaro you’d like to see next – you never know who might be listening.

GM’s Chevrolet reminds Chicago Motor Show

I’ll be honest with you, I’m a big fan of the car, the motor industry and just about anything related to the automotive field, yet despite that, I had now idea there was such a thing as a Chicago Motor Show.

Or perhaps I did know about the Chicago Motor Show at some point and it slipped my mind. Which is worse.

Luckily GM cares about Chicago and they brought it to discussion when the town’s motor show was nearing.
And don’t think it was just a simple mention while passing by, it was actually mentioned because that’s where General Motors will launch a new car that is based on the underpinnings of the Chevrolet Camaro.

To be fair, while the looks of the Chevrolet Camaro are somewhat controversial and most of the interior (especially the visibility) is stupid, the underpinnings of it are pretty good.
Mostly because they’re basically out of the Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO. Now, we know this is happening and that it will wear a Chevrolet badge, what is actually going to be?
Well, most enthusiasts would want it to be the iminent Chevrolet Camaro Z28 but I don’t really think that’s going to be the case.
This is because if I were making a new version of the Camaro I would say that’s what I’m doing, not a new car that’s based on the Camaro.

But then again, what do I know, I didn’t even remember the existance of the event where it’s going to be unveiled.

Chevrolet Impala will go 2013 in 2014 News Details

I know, I know, it sounds stupid, but to be honest, the current iteration Chevrolet Impala has been with us for so long that whenever you see it, you know it’s old.

And that’s the problem, even though it’s so old, Chevrolet isn’t exactly hurrying to solve that problem.

Worse still, the Impala’s new version, not just a facelift, that had been programmed for 2013 will now be happening till a whole year later, in 2014.
When it eventually does happen, the car will be based on the Epsilon platform and the engines and gearboxes powering it will be discovered at a later time.

For now, in order to keep the Chevrolet Impala running around for a couple or three years more GM is offering it with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
And that’s where the list of changes completely ends, therefore making the Chevrolet Impala the place to go for company car fleets for another few years.
Or has any actual person bought this car for their own use?

Thought so, and if you were planning to get a new Chevrolet Impala that’s gotten caught in the American revolution that’s going on with cars you’re gonna have to wait.

Upcoming GM to double Chevy Volt capacity in 2012

http://dailycar.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/web630-01chevroletvoltfd2011-1295789304.jpg
With fuel prices anticipated to rise, General Motors anticipates increased demand for the Chevrolet Volt. To stay ahead of the game, the automaker reportedly plans to double production capacity for the plug-in hybrid.
Production was originally pegged at 10,000 this year and 60,000 next year, but if the increased capacity comes to pass, those figures could increase to 25,000 this year and 120,000 units next year. This strategy depends on parts availability, however, and if the outsourced parts necessary to build more Volts can’t be ramped up by OEM suppliers, the plans could be cut short.
