Mini Roadster Upcoming In 2012

http://image.motortrend.com/f/34415573+w786+ar1/2012-Mini-Roadster-front-three-quarters-in-motion-2.jpg
The car is essentially an open-air version of the new two-place Mini Coupe, but instead of a hard top styled after a backwards baseball cap, the Roadster wears a black fabric roof. Unlike the four-place Mini Convertible, the Roadster's roof is manually operated. Drivers simply twist a latch on the windshield frame and pull the roof back to its resting place behind the front seats. Instead of offering a pair of rear seats, the area behind the front seats is home to a shelf for carrying small items, and a 14-by-8-inch pass-through into the trunk.

The Roadster is about the same length and width as the Coupe or Convertible models. Its windshield is sloped much more steeply than on other models -- 13 degrees more than the Convertible -- and it is tapered at the top to give a trapezoidal appearance from head-on. With the roof up, the Roadster has a bubble-shaped profile that reminds us of the original Audi TT. The sloping shape and narrower windshield make the Roadster slightly more aerodynamic than other Mini models. It also rides 0.75 inch lower than the Convertible.

As in the Coupe, the Roadster's chassis is stiffened by grace of extra bracing in the rear of the car and reinforced rocker panels. The car has an electrically operated rear spoiler, which opens at 50 mph and retracts when the car slows to 37 mph. It provides a claimed 88 pounds of downforce at high speeds, helping improve the car's stability. The use of a manual roof, however, lowers the Roadster's center of gravity, and the car is lighter than equivalent four-seat Convertible models. Curb weight ranges from 2635 pounds for the Cooper Roadster, to 2800 pounds for the Cooper S Roadster.

2011 Mini Countryman S2000 Review

Having created the 4×4 Mini, the British want to linger back to the days when they were seriously important in rallying so they decided to send the Countryman to the S2000 championship.
2011 Mini Countryman S2000 WRC
The 2011 Mini Countryman S2000 WRC was revealed at the recent Rallye Monte Carlo Historique, the place where Paddy Hopkirk became legendary in the original Mini.

Sadly, those days are gone as the 60′s Mini Cooper S participated in the event and barely managed to finish in the 109th position.
That’s pretty poor, but it didn’t discourage the Brits from placing that car side by side the new and spangled S2000 Countryman.

The driver of the old Mini, Rauno Aaltonen, was also set in the same photo as the team that’ll be navigating the new S2000 Countryman WRC. The new drivers were Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke.
They, along with the new rally prepped Mini will get back to testing in Spain within a few days.
As far as the actual car is concerned, the 2011 Mini Countryman S2000 WRC doesn’t seem to have many changes going on.

Sure, there’s a lot of work visible on the aerodynamics and while the suspension and underbody almost certainly aren’t standard, Mini is certainly keeping a lid on the information and specs for now.

Mini Cooper S Countryman S All4 Overview

When we went to test the all new Mini Cooper s Countryman All4, the very first thing that we noticed is the height. Contrary to its name, it is not ‘mini’ at all. It is quite tall. And it is wider than any of the Mini Cooper models ever were. As compared to its sculpted predecessor, the new Mini is bulky, lumpy, and tall. All right, this is what you get to know about the car in its first look, from far that is.
However, once you start getting closer and eventually open the door, you confirm your doubts. ‘It is quite a big Mini’. No, the manufacturers have not thought about rechristening the car, but the design, except for the original shape, has been given quite a boost. It has an ‘ALL4’ design, which means the acceleration does not only push the front wheels, bur rear as well.
Mini is actually Mini when you learn that it has 181 horsepower, direct inject, four-cylinder, 1.6Lengine with six speed transmission. So good so far.
For this transmission, the acceleration power has to reach all the four wheels. The car makes use of an electromechanical clutch system to thrust the power on to the wheels. And the fun starts. However, for this fun, you have to pay about $3,600 more compared to its previous version. For the extra money you shell out of your pocket, you get a ‘no so mini’ with 181 horsepower, fog lamps, traction control, comfortable sporty seats, and a few more added features.
If you pay $26,950, you get the Mini Cooper S Countryman with electric power steering, power windows, sport-push button, ABS, six-sides manually adjustable seats, remote control, and a satellite radio.
However, if your pockets are deep, you can make this into something that your peers will salivate at. Pay $500 for Crystal metallic silver paint to give it a majestic look. Another $1000 for carbon black or tobacco interiors. IF you spend $1,200 more, you buy the convenience pack that includes keyless door entry, mirrors with auto-dim, USB Bluetooth, and universal garage door opener. If you reside in an area where snowstorm are regular, get the cold-weather pack, which includes seat heater and mirrors with power fold. This will cost you another $750.
Ok, that was some convenience. Now, let us have a look at some of the luxurious features. A premium pack includes dual-pane sunroof, sound system by Harman Kardon, and auto climate control system for $1,750. For drivers with a sporty-kick, 18-inch wheels, xenon lights, and black hoot stripes can come for just $500. Some other features include armrest for $250, distance parking for $500, cargo net for $250 and destination charge is about $750.
So, for $35,400, you get to experience a whole new world of Mini. And this experience is what the carmaker calls Mini Cooper S Countryman All4.
Every one who loves still, compactness, and performance. And of course this set of people includes who would aim for luxury, but not the upcoming hatchback all-wheel-drive Ferrari. On a more serious note, it is for buyers who want a mini-style but a max performer with all-four-drive, unique interiors, turbo power, and the countryman who has to bother about handling his vehicle in all weather conditions.

Review Mini Cooper S Cabrio

The new Convertible carries over it’s styling from the second generation MINI, so there’s not very much to report on in terms of the bodywork below the waist, although there are some small but significant differences from both the previous generation Convertible, and the hatch back variant of the second generation MINI.
A change that makes a vigilante MINI is first noticed the fuel filler cap, like the first generation of MINI Cabrio, moves slightly backwards and upwards, and is actually closer together small diameter. Also present are correctly folded hinges starting. The new cover is very similar in style to that fitted to the model it replaces, which is not much to report, but the structure is different, and we hope this MINI features described as the best line rainwater around the front windows, so I hope more places and wet towers for MINI owners and their passengers who live in a state of shock weather! The rear window is glass and heated again, and the whole package folds up fairly significant, given the limitations of packaging. Hidden rear stabilizer bars also improve both the appearance of the rear of the car and the rear visibility for the driver, which is good for two reasons.
For keen drop-top drivers, there’s the Cooper S or mighty JCW. There’s an automatic six-speed option, superior fuel returns to the S’s and a wide range of safety and driver aids. The S is band G and the JCW, band H. Other safety features include a crash sensor, Dynamic Stability Control including Automatic Stability Control + Traction, electronic brakeforce distribution and corner braking control. BMW’s EfficientDynamics system includes brake energy regeneration plus auto start/stop as standard, while the manual gets a shift point display for optimum gearchanges.
