The engine is supported by Saab’s innovative eXWD system. It comprises a rear drive unit housing a 25 kW (34 hp) electric motor/generator powered by a small battery pack. Regenerative braking is used to sustain the battery’s charge.
The overall shape of Saab PhoeniX Concept is apparently molded by the wind. Closely-rich liquid-like skin, the teardrop cabin resembles a dark ice block and appears to erupt from the center of the muscular bodywork. Two large waves on the flow along the hood of the windscreen pillars are disguised as if barely able to contain a strong structure below. At the rear, the dark screen also bursts through the outer skin of the rear deck, conical shape of a drop back styling cues Ursaab, while a “sawn off” Echoes Kamm tail coupe form first Saab Sonett.
The front design Saab PhoeniX is characterized by a tight interpretation of the three-door Saab grille. A body-colored central wing is now dominant and, in keeping with the car’s minimalist design, LED headlamps are almost invisibly located at its tips. The new grille and hood forms are among the styling themes likely to be seen in future Saab production cars.

Saab Sport Sedan Concept Study 2025 Details

Youngho Jong is a Korean design student, he taken Saab to looking towards future as sport sedan 2025 Advanced Warning System Vehicle concept: a rakish, four-door saloon with coupe-like styling. With his research showing that 50% of vehicles accidents are caused by carelessness, excessive speed and tailgating, Jong wanted to create a car that would warn other drivers to back off and drive with care.
There are following the 2025 concept, slits open up in its rear panels revealing amber hazard lights, patches of the car’s skin also darken. The same amber slips are found on the front and sides of the vehicle. Jong took his inspiration from nature’s Fire Salamander, which uses its bright, menacing colours to ward off potential predators.
Jong also mentions that the Saab Sport Sedan Concept Study’s skin is constructed of a soft, impact absorbing material that reduces pedestrian injuries and vehicle damage in collisions. He incorporate sharp edges and the colours red and yellow to further emphasises the possible danger.

First Saab 9-4X rolls off the assembly line

It’s been little over a year since Saab unveiled the 9-4X at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, and now the first production example has left the assembly line.
Envisioned when Saab was still under the General Motors umbrella, the 9-4X is based on the same Theta platform as the Cadillac SRX. As such, it’s being built not in Trollhättan, Sweden, like other Saabs, but in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

This first example – an Aero model in Ice Pearl metallic with the 2.8-liter turbo V6 and XWD – carries the chassis number 00001, and will be displayed at Saab’s museum in Sweden – after it makes the media rounds, of course. While you’re waiting for the 9-4X to hit U.S. dealers in May, check out our galleries below along with the official production announcement after the jump.

Saab looking for 15-20k sales this year Details and Gallery

Saab Cars North America (barely) lived through a horrible 2010, with sales of only 5,445 units. For perspective, Toyota makes that many Camry sedans by Thursday of most weeks. Part of the problem, no doubt, was Saab’s flirtation with oblivion and the resultant crippled supplier base and a lack of consumer awareness, but a lack of new product also played a big role.
Automotive News reports that Saab execs are assuring dealers that 2011 should turn out a lot better, with projected U.S. sales of between 15,000 and 20,000 units. That’s a significant sales recovery, and at least part of the increased volume should come courtesy of a strengthening auto market. But increased sales alone won’t enable 400 percent growth. Luckily, Saab has some new product in the pipeline, with the 9-4X crossover scheduled to arrive in May, while continued sales of the 9-5 sedan and the upcoming wagon variant (scheduled for Fall, 2011) should further boost the bottom line.

Will the 9-4X prove popular enough to move Saab over the sales hump? We don’t doubt it, if only because the company’s sales bogey is so low. And it helps that the 9-4X is attractive and poised to hit the market at a time when customers are clamoring over high-end CUVs.

Review 2012 Saab 9-5 SportCombi Upcoming

The Swedish brand shows the rebirth 9-5 SportCombi, based on the last 9-5 sedan in the Geneva Motor Show in March. It goes on sale in the U.S. this fall as a 2012 model. Style similar to the sedan C-pillar forward, the car adds surround back glass that reflects the look of the rear lights below. An integrated rear spoiler and roof rails are standard. The design is so clean and beautiful as tourism, but the car that can surprise no one is our favorite of the two body styles 5.9.
2012 Saab 9-5 SportCombi cargo space that can swallow 56 cubic feet of belongings with the rear seats folded, 18.6 cubic meters, or only the seats in place. For reference, the Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon offers 25 cubic feet with the seats folded with 58. In the U.S. are equipped only with a 220-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, four-door sedan higher-level, 300 hp turbo V-6 is the menu. Saab XWD all-wheel drive is standard.
Pricing and trim levels haven’t been confirmed, SportCombi models typically command a $1000 premium over their sedan counterparts, which should put a base 9-5 wagon just north of $40K.
