Nissan focusing to reveal four new models in Indian by 2013, including Nissan Micra first Nissan model is expected to be rolled out before the summer of 2010.

According to the company, Nissan’s automobiles will be made from its Rs 4,500-crore Chennai plant, which has been set up as a joint venture with Renault.

The first vehicle, the Nisan Micra hatchback, is expected to hit India dealerships by 2010.
The Nissan Micra is expected to be launched in both petrol and diesel versions.
“Our plans are on track and our first car will be the Micra hatchback. The Micra is known as March in Japan and the Indian version will be christened either Micra or March,” Nissan Motor India’s Managing Director and CEO, Kiminobu Tokuyama said.

The Nissan Micra is expected to take on the Honda City in India.
The new generation Nissan Micra will be based on a redesigned B-platform, and will come with a new 1.2-1.3 litre (xh5) engine, retaining the HR15DE.Washington, Nissan Facility
Apart from India, the Nissan Micra will be manufactured in Japan, UK, and Thailand. A completely new model of the Nissan Micra will be built by Nissan’s US facility, in Washington.
 Nissan has said that the Nissan Micra or March will have 80 per cent local content.
The Chennai facility, which is a 50:50 joint venture between Nissan and Renault at Oragadam, will has a capacity to manufacture four lakh cars annually.
Nissan will initially produce two lakh cars, which it then proposes to scale-up to three lakh cars in about four years time, reports say.

Meanwhile, Nissan has also zeroed in on the Ennore port in north Chennai to build a dedicated jetty for exports of Nissan cars. The company hopes to export 2-2.5 lakh cars annually in 3-4 years and sell 90,000-1, 00,000 units in the domestic market.
However, Nissan’s plans to launch light commercial vehicles with Ashok Leyland has been delayed on account of the prevailing economic environment.
Nissan, in the meantime, had announced that the sales of the X-Trail during fiscal 2008 touched 27,001 units and achieved No 1 selling SUV for the second consecutive year.
The X-Trail had received accolades for its traction and stability through Nissan’s advanced four-wheel drive system.
The company plans to boost sales by adding more eco-friendly vehicles to its existing line-up of cars.
Nissan plans to increase its dealership in India from 5 to 22, by 2012.
